Tehran Int’l Animation Festival wraps up Thursday

The 10th Tehran International Animation Festival has come to an end March 9.

The 10th Tehran Int’l Animation Festival ends by honoring late Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami and the country’s noted artist Ali Akbar Sadeghi.

 The closing event was held on March 9 at the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults in Tehran.

Winning films in the Iran Section included ‘The Servant’ by Farnoush Abedi, ‘The Switchman’ by Mehdi Khoramian, ‘Release from Heaven’ by Ali Noori Oskouei and ‘Run Rostam Run’ by Hossein Molayemi.

International films that picked up awards include titles such as ‘Mama Heron’ by Marina Karpova from Russia, ‘What Is Your Brown Number’ by Vinnie Ann Bose from India, ‘Dead Horses’ by Riba Marc and Anna Solanas from Spain, ‘PIK-PIK-PIK’ by Dmitry  Vysotskiy from Russia, and ‘Erlking’ by Georges  Schwizgebel from Switzerland.

The festival was held in various cinemas and cultural centers in the capital, Tehran, as well as provincial cinemas.

Organized by the Institute for Intellectual Development of Children & Young Adults, many award-winning animations will participate at the event.

The Tehran International Animation Festival is a competitive event which takes place biennially. The main goal is to promote animation and broaden cultural interchange.

TIAF is not specified just for children and young adults, but any kind of artistic animated films, including those for children, young adults and adults section, can be sent to the festival.
